Case Studies: Colleges and Universities
The challenge
City and Islington College is one of the top performing and largest FE colleges in the country. As the only college in London to be graded by Ofsted as ‘outstanding in every way’, the staff they employ need to be outstanding too. The college turned to TES Prime to support them to recruit two of their most senior roles: Director of Applied Sciences Centre and Director of Lifelong Learning Centre. Each role had a dual purpose: to lead and manage each centre; and to ensure they remain at the forefront of change.
How we helped
- Working with the Human Resources Director and the Principal, it was agreed that a search would be necessary for the Science role. Our dedicated researcher identified over 70 potential candidates and approached all of them to discuss the role.
- We executed a high-impact recruitment campaign in TES and the THE in print and online to ensure the vacancies were seen by the widest possible audience.
- The roles attracted a wide range of highly qualified diverse candidates.
- The applied Sciences Director role received 36 expressions of interest and 15 applications were submitted.
- The Lifelong Learning Director role received 54 expressions of interest and 33 applications.
- We sifted and graded each candidate against the strict criteria set by the college.
The result
As a result of working with TES Prime, the college appointed to both roles first time.
In the college's words
“We were very pleased with the helpful and efficient service we received from TES Prime with regards to the search and selection process for our recent vacancies. The campaign gave us maximum coverage to a large pool of candidates and we were delighted to be able to appoint two outstanding candidates.”
